Everybody wave and sing Goodbye!

Hi folks, the title is the goodbye song of the Imagine That Kindermusik class. I sang it for the last time two Saturdays ago. I stopped teaching.....hopefully for just a while while I take a breather. It wasn't a easy decision to take after teaching so long. I have grown to love the kids very much. I have grown to love teaching them. Personally it has been a great learning experience of knowing the musical aspect of myself.

It has free up my weekends. I went on a short break to Ipoh and Penang over the weekend and stuff myself silly with food. It gives me more time with my family on saturday mornings and hubby is happy he doesn't have to be mum, dad, driver and lunch provider on saturdays anymore.

I want to thank the parents who have been so supportive of me all this while. There are some who started with me from day one and with me right to the last class. Started with Milk and Cookies (Our Time) and finish Young Child 3 with me. I told a friend that I will probably bawl my eyes out when it's time for me to bid goodbye and I did. Thank God I didn't scare the kids!

Anyway, this is not the end of the journey. Just stopping at the R and R to take a short breather. Watch out for this space......tee hee

Home in Heaven and House on Earth

I just have to write this down before I forget.

Adam ( my 5 year old) was lying in bed, ready for bed...and as usual, he starts asking questions about life.

Daddy....when you go to heaven, will I be a big man already?

Yes.

I want to go to heaven together with you.

We cant decide when we go to heaven. Only God can.

Will mummy be as old as Por Por ( my mum) before she goes to heaven?

Probably.

What about kor kor and che che? Will they go to heaven too?

Yes they will.

How do I feel when I die? ( goodness knows what goes through the mind of this child!)

You will feel happy because God said heaven is a happy place.

( Dad is getting all the answers right so far!)

Dad....if you go to heaven first.....

CAN I HAVE THE HOUSE? And your bed too because my bunk bed wont fit me and my wife!

Can you beat that?!!!?!

Prince and Princess

On the way to school this morning, my 5 year old asked me....mummy, are we royal family?

Mum, weaving through mad traffic, with hair plastered on head ( no time to blow dry hair)....looking far from a queen...said, No darling....we are most certainly NOT royal family.

5 year old said, Then....I am not a prince?

Mum....nope, you are not a prince darling.

How can I be a prince then?

Mmmm.....you have to marry a princess.

Is Denise ( the girl he most sayang in school..and feelings are mutual by the way) a princess?

No, she is not a real princess ( mum put on her most sympathetic voice while trying to avoid rude drivers on the road)

Then I have to find a real princess when I grow up, said he.

OK darling....you do that.

AND, I will find one that is NOT married.

Yes darling...preferably!

Can you hear me?

Adam, my youngest, is a people person. He thinks a lot about relationships, people, feelings...

A few nights ago he asked me, Mum....when you die and go to heaven, can you still talk to me?

Before I can even think of an answer, my wise son said, I think you can still talk to me. And I will still be able to hear you.....in my heart.

I was touched...and speechless. His answer is better than mine.

You can always hear my voice, darling....in your heart. Wherever you are, wherever I am.....

Boys' Mail

Adam wanted to phone his dad, to ask dad to come home early so that they can go to the park to play football.

I dialed the number for him from my handphone and passed the phone to Adam.

He put it to his ear and after a few seconds, gave me a puzzled look and said...daddy says leave my number?

I realised that the call must have gone to voice mail and I told Adam....oh.... that's voice mail.

Before I had a chance to explain what that means....smarty pants asked....do you have girls mail mummy?

HUH?!!??

Then I realised he heard BOYS MAIL....not voice mail! So since daddy is a boy and he has boys mail....mummy must have girls' mail!

Hee..heee.....so cute!

A time for change.....

Hi folks, Amanda is currently sitting for her 'O' levels exams. She will be finished mid June. After that, we have to make the decision where she will go, and what she will do. The options are mind boggling - "A" levels, matriculation, SATs.....we have been getting good advice from friends who have gone through the same experience. So, the mind is working and working, thinking and thinking, considering this and that.....

The heart....is not doing so good. It's feeling kinda heavy - knowing that a change in the family is going to happen, it's inevitable. Thinking of my baby no. 1( I know....I'm hopeless when it comes to my kids) leaving home makes me panic. I know millions of mums in the world have gone through the same thing. I hope I will be strong and calm when the time comes.....not a bawling mess which I can very well be if left to the promptings of my heart.

Changes....you can't stop it, just like you cant stop the sun from setting. I was watching Star Wars with my 5 year old. Anakin's mum said that to him when he left home to be trained as a Jedi. Letting go....sigh...it's TOUGH!

I know the brothers will miss the sister. They looked to her for leadership ( though they will never admit it) I will miss singing with her, talking and joking together.

I know she has not yet leave the house....it's just mummy preparing for the next phase of motherhood and writing about it helps....so bear with me OK?

Imagine This....

Hey everyone.....am very aware that I have been missing in action AGAIN for a while now! Time just flies by....

Had a good class today. The kids really enjoyed themselves when Ernie the puppet did some glissando exercise with them - they had to play the glock glissando fashion up or down and Ernie had to follow the sounds by going up and down. It didnt take long for some of the kids to decide to make him go crazily up and down by playing really fast!

Didn't the kids do well recognizing which notation represents which sound on the whistle? Am really glad that they are absorbing and learning in class.

Five more lessons to go before I bid adieus.....
