Prayer

What it means to Pray? (Daniel 6:1-28)

Today I brought along a lot of things to show you. You tell me what they are and what they do OK?

  1. Hairdryer – blowing and drying hair
  2. CD Player- playing CDs
  3. Radio/clock – playing music and telling time
  4. Lamp- gives us light

We use all these items for different reasons. Though they are all different, they have to have one very, very important thing before they can work. What is it?

Yes, electricity. If they are not hooked into any power socket, and without electric power, no matter how good they look, or how hi-tech they are…they are useless.

So it is with each one of us. Each one of us is good in different things ( like the different electrical items), but we too have to stay connected to our power supply in order to be effective. Who is our power supply? Yes, God. How do we stay connected? Through prayer which is talking to God and hearing from Him.

The lesson is very simple isn’t it? But you know, sometimes we still forget this very simple but important part of Christian life. When we get into trouble..,what do we do? Instead of praying first and asking God for help, we run around looking for help from other people. Sometimes we even forget to pray and even think that prayer is not that important. Then what happens to us? What happens to the hairdryer if it doesn’t stay connected to the power supply? It stops working, it becomes useless.

God cannot use us effectively if we don’t stay connected to Him. Always remember to pray to God: talk to Him and wait for Him to also talk to you.
