Missing in Action (again)

Hiya all, so sorry I have taken such a long break again. I guess not having to blog the lesson plan weekly has turned me into a lazy worm! Time really flies an we are now almost halfway through the SWIS semester.

Classes have been going really well and I am constantly amazed how well behaved and adorable the kids are in class. I am sure mums and dads have different stories at home ;-) but they truly are good in class. I often catch myself in the midst of teaching, seeing their heads bend over in concentration and trying to follow a rhythm, and I tell myself - I love this job! I am having just as much fun as them!

On the personal front, Adam ( my 5 years old going on 12) told me, mummy....I love you infinity. I just explained to him what 'infinity' means. Makes your heart melt eh? This statement totally made up for what he said the other day. I took out an old pair of pants from the cupboard, put it on and asked dear hubby the classic question.....Do I look fat in this? The little one, who was in the room quickly chirped in....You don't look fat mummy, but your bottom looks really BIG! Gee.....thanks! :-) My hubby, of course, thought HIS son is a genius...and started laughing like a hyena!

Well folks....sorry again from the bottom of my heart for being so out of touch. Will try to be more consistent. Bye bye for now.....

Out of Action!

Hi all, sorry I have been out of action for a few weeks an have not been blogging regularly. No excuse, just plain laziness and allowing other things to crowd out my blogging time.

The SWIS classes have been going well. The kids are starting to get the hang of the idea of 'going to the park' and the things we can do there. We have lots of fun and laughter in class when they have to correct this 'blur' ( wink, wink!) teacher who doesnt know which part of the slide to climb up, and which side of the see saw she must be on! Kids love to have their 'teaching' moments too - especially as they are always told what to do, how to do it - it's good for their self esteem to have the opportunity to help and tell others how to do things.

They are also beginning to form friendships in class, especially the girls. So sweet, every opportunity they get, they will be holding hands and helping each other with instruments. I'm glad to see emerging friendships here because it is a sign that they feel secure emotionally and have the confidence to reach out to others.

Hope that the kids are not driving you crazy with the slide whistle at home! We will continue with the use of slide whistle on and off throughout this term so do bring it along in class.

This term will be a challenging one musically. I have been thinking of how to make the lessons more challenging for the kids, and you will see as we go along this semester. I look forward to seeing the kids rise up to the occasion and really grasp the musical concepts.

So, till we meet again in cyberspace.....ah, make sure you go out and vote this saturday. I will, after my classes!

Rendang, Ketupats and New Ideas......

Sorry I have been out of touch for a while. We didn't go anywhere during the Raya holidays, just stayed in KL and enjoyed the traffic free roads. We visited friends' and family over the weekend, and I had my share of the glorious and yummy rendang and ketupat....hence the title of this message.

I have also been toying with this idea for a while and finally given a push by hubby who is big into buying and selling from ebay. I will be, in the near future, starting a new blog.....solely dedicated to recommending children's books. Apart from music, this is another huge passion of mine. Reading....whether it is adult or kids books. I collect kids books by the way....and my idea of a perfect time is spending time in a bookshop, all by myself with unlimited budget. Bliss......I am definitely not a TV fan....some of you will be shocked...haven't watch any episode of Desperate Housewives, Grey's ( not even sure of spelling!) Anatomy, no Korean Series....the only show I watch is.....American Idol!!!!

So folks, will let you know when my blog is up. Hopefully it can be help to parents who are overwhelmed when they stepped into a bookshop with the wide array of books available.
